PPPs Saeed Ghani wins PS-114 by-election
Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Senator Saeed Ghani won the by-election on a provincial assembly seat, PS-114, in Karachi's Mehmoodabad area on Sunday.
According to unconfirmed and unofficial results, the PPP candidate secured 23,840 votes against his closest rival Kamran Tessori of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, who got 18,106 votes. - Posted on : 11-July-2017
PPP confident of victory
Although the PPP could not become a significant stakeholder in the constituency in the past elections, this time round the party has fielded its secretary general for Karachi, Senator Saeed Ghani, in an effort to branch out of its traditional strongholds in Lyari and Malir.
However, the situation took an interesting turn when Marwat announced not to contest the by-polls and to instead support the PTI, who has fielded one of its founding members, Najeeb Haroon. PTI announces candidate for PS-114 by-election
PTI Karachi President Firdous Shamim Naqvi, along with MPA Khurram Sher Zaman, announced the name of the candidate during a press conference on Monday at Insaf House.
