Montenegro’s parliamentary elections elect members for four year terms and operate according to proportional representation, with a 3% threshold required for obtaining seats in parliament. The last elections to the Assembly of the Republic of Montenegro were held on the 29th March 2009. One party, European Montenegro, received 51.94% of the vote and as such occupies 48 of the 81 seats. The other parties represented are the Socialist Peoples Party of Montenegro, with 16 seats, New Serb Democracy, with eight seats, and Movement for Changes with five seats. There are also four parties with one seat each, representing the interests of the Albanian minority. The current prime minister is Milo Đukanović.
