This election gives all citizens, regardless of wealth, a fair shot to be heard and participate in every step of the democratic process
Kentuckys gubernatorial election is expected to draw national attention this year.
Incumbent Andy Beshear, one of the nations most popular governors, will face Daniel Cameron, who could become the nations first black Republican governor.
"I dont think theres much of a challenge for Gov. Beshear," said Democratic Rep. Rachel Roberts, who represents Newport. "He has been through a lot as our governor. He has withstood the global pandemic admirably."
Kentucky is one of only three states holding a gubernatorial election this fall. The others are Louisiana and Mississippi.
"Andy Beshear defeated a very unpopular governor by 5,000 votes," said Republican political strategist Torres Watson. "Now hes going to play against an underrated opponent. Someone with solid popularity. Someone with a lot of financial backing. I think its going to be a battle."
Jacqueline Coleman once again became Beshears running mate. Cameron has until August 8 to choose a vice-presidential candidate. - Posted on : 22-May-2023
