PML-N to win NA-120 by-election: Maryam Nawaz[Posted on : 2017-08-28 by Madiha Maqbool] PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz said on Sunday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would win bye-election of NA-120 and people's love for Nawaz Sharif could not be eliminated from their hearts.
Presiding over a meeting held at Model Town to discuss a strategy regarding NA-120 bye-election here, Maryam said.
She said, 'She is not going to London and will run election campaign and she will start soon door to door campaign'.
Despite whatever political opponents do, the PML-N would win bye-election of NA-120 with the grace of Almighty Allah, she said.
Maryam Nawaz said people would bring Nawaz Sharif back with their votes.
| 65 contenders for NA-120 by-electon[Posted on : 2017-08-14 by Madiha Maqbool] PML-N's Kulsoom Nawaz, PTI's Dr Yasmin Rashid, and PPP's Faisal Mir are prominent among 65 candidates who have filed their nomination papers at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for NA-120 by-election.
Four candidates from the Jamaat-i-Islami, including Ziaud Din, Zikarullah Mujahid, and two others whose names have not been disclosed, are among the nominees. The name of the main candidate for NA-120 will be announced subsequently.
Pakistan People's Party has fielded Zubair Kardar as a cover candidate.
The other candidates who filed their nomination papers include Ghulam Shabbir, Mickal Sarwyaa, Muhammad Shakeel Shah, Zubair Qadir, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Mian Aziz Ur Rehman Chann, Arshad Mehmood, Nawab Amber, Ashraf Butt, Nadeem Hafiz Khan, Chaudhary Abid Hussain, Sajida Mir, Arshad Mehmood Nauman, Noor Naeem, Gulab Khan, Irfan Khalid, Yasir Islam, Liaqat Abbas, Muhammad Ashfaque, Andleeb Abbas, Sheikh Azhar, Zeeshan Ahmad, Rohi Bano, Javed Yousaf, Muhammad Husnain, Jamil Asghar, Muhammad Munsif, Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Khalid Naik, Saifullah, Muhammad Khurram, Laiqur Rehman, Muhammad Zubair Khan Niazi, Sardar Hur Bukhari, Nasir Saleem, Ziaud Din Ansari, Parvez Akhtar, Qaisar Mehmood, Sumair Ali, Amir Bhadur, Muhammad Aslam Sharif, Rana Zahid Hussain, Micle Faris, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Waseem and Muhammad Hadi and Zia Ullah Mujahid.
August 12 was the last day to file nomination papers for the National Assembly seat that fell vacant after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case on July 28.
According to the Election Commission, scrutiny of nomination papers would be held from August 15 to August 17 while appeals could be filed against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers by August 21.
The appellate tribunals would decide filed appeals till Aug 24 while candidates could withdraw their papers till Aug 25. The returning officers would publish revised list of candidates on Aug 26 and the by-polls would be held on September 17, 2017.

In the internal party discussions so far names of Begum Kulsoom and Ms Maryam have emerged as first and second priority, respectively, as PML-N candidates for the seat (that) fell vacant after disqualification of the prime minister, a party official told Dawn here on Monday.
He, however, quoted Mr Sharif as telling the consultative meeting that he would make a final decision on the issue after reaching Lahore as the party had already given him a free hand for picking a candidate for NA-120. The former prime minister had earlier wished that his younger brother Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should succeed him as prime minister (after contesting from NA-120 to become a National Assembly member).
| PML-N fails to decide on NA-120 contender[Posted on : 2017-08-04 by Umais Butt] Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, earlier proposed as a successor to his brother, Nawaz, was expected to contest the NA-120 by-poll in order to acquire membership of the National Assembly, and then go on to become prime minister.
However, recent reports suggest the party is reevaluating its strategy amid fears that the PML-N's focus will be diverted from the crucial province of Punjab ─ the home of the party's electoral base ─ if Shahbaz leaves the post of chief minister.
The Punjab government has admitted to the debate over the chief minister's elevation. Some party leaders think Punjab is very important for the PML-N and Shahbaz Sharif should continue serving here, while others want to see him as premier, the Punjab government's spokesperson Malik Ahmad told Dawn.

Asad Qaiser, Qasim Suri elected NA speaker and deputy speaker | [15-Aug-2018] a former speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, received 176 votes to PPP stalwart and joint opposition's candidate Khursheed Shah's 146. Eight votes were rejected in the tally.
The election for the post of deputy speaker was also won by a PTI candidate: Suri. He garnered 183 votes and edged out Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal's (MMA) Maulana Asad Mehmood, who received 144 votes.

Thari women set example for all in 2018 elections | [14-Aug-2018] collected from the District Returning Officer (DRO) in Mithi and the official website of Election Commission of Pakistan revealed that two constituencies of Sindh's underdeveloped Thar district, NA-221 and NA-222, emerged as those with the highest voter turnout ratios across Pakistan.
In NA-221 Tharparkar-I, the turnout ratio was 68.6 per cent with 72.83pc of the female voters and 65.39pc of male voters showing up to vote. A total of 166,527 votes were cast here of which 9,341 were rejected.

PTI seeks PPP's support for NA Speaker's election | [13-Aug-2018] Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sought the support of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) for the election of the National Assembly speaker on Wednesday following the oath-taking of MNAs-elect on Monday.
